What Fisher German said about Paul's work
Marketing manager Jackie Turner, of the Fisher German Market Harborough branch, approached Paul when the time came to renew staff photography.
She explains: "Fisher German wanted a fresh approach to the employees' photography. We worked with Paul to produce "real people" photography to show the approachability of our team.
Jackie had made enquiries with a couple of other photographers, but liked the informal friendly style of the studio pictures on Paul's website.
"It was a big ask – our partners are very pushed for time and always have important meetings to attend, so Paul had to come into the meeting and snap away as they talked".
"Paul with the boys really well – and with teenagers, that's quite an achievement!"
Mags, Sam & Harry GilbertRead More ...Imagine the trauma of trying to persuade two teenaged boys to pose in front of a camera –it's hard to decide who has the hardest job: mum getting them to the studio, or the photographer, trying to get them to relax and enjoy the experience.
This was the challenge faced by Mags Gilbert, of Smeeton Westerby, near Market Harborough. She had been to Paul before and was really happy with the photos he had taken of Sam and Harry when they were younger.
But at the ages of 12 and 14, it was an idea that wasn't exactly greeted with the greatest of enthusiasm.
Mags explains: "The photos Paul had taken five years ago were great, and we hadn't had any other professional ones taken since. The boys are growing up really fast and I wanted to get some more of them as they approach their early teens.
"I love Paul's style, and he is so friendly. And when we viewed the photos, we were there for quite a long time – but he makes it so difficult to pick the ones you like the most because they are all so good.
"It wasn't much of a surprise that the boys were a little reticent to begin with. They are both into their music, so Paul asked them to bring some props with them. Sam took his guitar and Harry took his drumsticks.
"They were both quite self-conscious to start with, but Henry (Labrador) was around, which helped. He is gorgeous. We have a dog and both the boys loved having Henry around. When we came back to view the photos, Henry sat on the sofa, watching with us."
"I've already recommended Paul to numerous family and friends. He's very good at suggesting ideas and presenting the images once he has taken them."
"When she opened the album on Christmas Day, she said it was the best present she had ever had – mission accomplished!"
Ralph, Chloe, Joe & Fern Atkinson... & Leo the LabradorRead More ...The pressure to buy the perfect Christmas gift is always an issue, but when it's your wife's 50th on Christmas Day, it takes expectation to a whole new level.
Ralph Atkinson, of Medbourne, near Market Harborough, wanted to treat his wife, Angela, to the best present she'd ever had, so he turned to the talents of Paul Ferraby photography for some creative input.
Ralph explains: "My children and I wanted to give her something unusual, so we decided to get a professional photo of Chloe, 21 Joe, 19, Fern, 16, and our labrador, Leo, together. It was all very hush, hush, getting two of them back from university and home without Angela knowing!
"I just went along to keep the dog in line – he is daft as a brush, but much more of a yard dog than a house dog. He doesn't normally like strangers, so I was concerned he might bark at Paul, but Paul had him under control from the start."
"He was just as good with the kids and got them performing for the camera easily, even though Joe and Fern were quite nervous about it."
"I recommend Paul to anyone because he makes everyone feel so at ease and he listens to what you want. We're delighted with the results!"
"I work in Birmingham and so it was going to be difficult to arrange a time to view the photos, so Paul set them up on the Internet and gave us a password so we could see them and choose from there."
"It's my wife who now has the hardest job – picking which ones of the 25 she wants framing!"
"The results were excellent – we were so much more relaxed because we weren't thinking about getting back to our guests."
Sarah-Jane & Jonathon UnwinRead More ...Although Paul doesn't offer a conventional wedding photography service, he has snapped a number of couples after the main event, resulting in a less rushed and stressful experience.
After seeing her sister's phenomenal wedding album, Sarah-Jane Unwin thought back to her own wedding day a year previously and decided to dust down her dress and to give Paul a call.
The result, as Sarah-Jane explains, was a second set of photographs which she and her husband, Jonathon, are thrilled with – and a rare chance to relive the magic of their original wedding day.
The photographs were taken at Our Lady of Victory, Fairfield Road, Market Harborough, just in time for their first wedding anniversary.
Sarah-Jane explains: "Looking at my sister's lovely photographs which Paul had taken, I realised that there were quite a few that I had really wanted on my wedding day in the church, but never got.
"I phoned Paul and he agreed to come back to the church with us to recreate our wedding day. Looking back, I really wished we had asked Paul in the first place."
"It was wonderful to wear the dress again and really lovely that it was almost a year to the day since the actual wedding day."
"It's a great idea if you feel you have some photos missing from the day. The results were excellent – we were so much more relaxed because we weren't thinking about getting back to our guests."
"In some respects, I would have preferred to have done all our photos in this way. On the day, you don't get the chance to say hello and thank you to all your guests anyway, and the photos waste even more of your time – as anyone who has ever got married will tell you, the day just flies by."
"Paul has given us a second album – you can never have too many! We are really chuffed with them. He really has an eye for it and has done some really artistic things with the candlelight, the sunset and the light streaming through the stained glass windows. He really makes you feel comfortable."
"We had all the time in the world and it really showed in the second set of photos we can now cherish."
"Give Paul a call!"
"We were made to feel relaxed, have fun, and comfortable. The boys really enjoyed it, especially when they got to play around with some of the props you have."
Simon & Justine BaxendaleRead More ...We just wanted to let you know, what a great experience it is having our photos done by you. We would highly recommend you to our friends and family. We were made to feel relaxed, have fun, and comfortable. The boys really enjoyed it, especially when they got to play around with some of the props you have, I haven’t seen them laugh so much in ages. Everyone that we gave the photos to, and people that have seen our photos, have said how nice they are.
We look forward to seeing you again, for our third visit in a couple of years.
"With two teenagers and a dog - we weren't sure how the session would go..."
Anne (Mother, The Cowan Family)Read More ...With two teenagers and a dog - we weren't sure how the session would go – but Paul completely put us at ease and was fantastic in knowing what would work and giving us direction. We had a great time.
